New 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift launch in July
Skoda has been testing the Octavia facelift in the country, revealing the exterior and interior of the car. The car manufacturer will launch the new Octavia facelift in India in the first week of July, 2017 and the company's dealers have started accepting bookings for the car at a token amount of Rs 51,000. The new Skoda Octavia facelift will be available with a choice of three variants, namely; Ambition, Style and Style Plus. The 2017 Octavia will have a waiting period of around two to three months, depending on the variant.
The upcoming sedan will be powered by the same engine options that power the current model and will receive cosmetic updates both at the exterior and interior. The exterior of the new Octavia will feature all-LED quad headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), large 17-inch alloy wheels and a revised bumper with a wider air intake. The company will offer the Octavia with the new tail lamp cluster as well as a redesigned rear bumper.
The changes that will be made inside the cabin will come in the form of a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with WLAN (wireless connectivity options) for a smartphone. The Skoda Octavia facelift will get two umbrellas placed into the doors at the front, a driver fatigue detection system, rearview camera, hands-free parking system along with different ambient lighting options. Safety wise, there will around six to eight aribags, depending on the variant level, along with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) as standard fitment.
The new 2017 Skoda Octavia will get its power from the same 1.4 litre and 1.8 litre petrol engine with 147 hp of power and a 2.0 litre diesel unit with 140 hp of power that will be paired to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The carmaker might also offer the Octavia with the vRS version, but it is expected to be launched later this year. The sportier Octavia vRS version is likely to be powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that will generate around 230 hp of power. The Octavia vRS will get a sportier body kit that is expected to include blackened 18-inch alloy wheels as well as updated suspension setup.
The prices of the Skoda Octavia facelift are not yet disclosed as the company is waiting for the GST (Goods and Services Tax) announcement that will be implemented from 1st July, 2017. We are expecting Skoda to price the upcoming 2017 Octavia lower than the current model as the prices of the luxury vehicle are expected to be reduced after the GST. The current Skoda Octavia is priced between Rs 19.28 lakh and Rs 23.35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
